History Dinner went well

Friday the 13th we had an excellent dinner by Lakeshore Lodge. There was a silent auction where people were able to bid on a variety of items from wood carvings to picnic baskets and gift certificates.

The highlight was the talk by Brett Brownscombe, the transition director for Department of State Lands on the Elliott State Forest. He was able to give insight into the proposed plans for the Forest usage. While there are many hurtles to cross yet there is a plan to combine some logging and carbon capture to pay for environmental, recreational and research activities. Much of this is still to be delineated. The goal is to be financially self-sustaining. Incorporated is a plan to reduce fire risk. He expressed the goal to include public input into the plan.
